CannedRocket LLC publishes native applications and editorial field notes across science, history, nature and art. We work where a static article or catalogue is not enough, and where interaction can reveal the structure of the subject.
Publishing for active understanding
Our publications are designed to be used, not merely scrolled. A reader can plan a route, change a reference frame, compare two impressions, inspect a source or reconstruct a sequence of making. The interaction has to carry editorial meaning.
We began in 2014 and remain independent. That allows us to build focused products around durable subjects without turning every release into a subscription or an advertising surface.
The editorial method
Retain institutions, archives, licences, provenance and model coverage where available.
Separate what a record or image shows from the interpretation built around it.
State uncertainty, approximation and reconstruction limits in the product itself.
Use motion, touch and simulation to expose structure, not to disguise thin content.
The editorial desks
| Desk | Status | Current scope |
|---|---|---|
| Astronomy | Publishing | Orbital mechanics, planetary science and exploration history |
| Art & material culture | Publishing | Objects, making processes, provenance and close looking |
| Nature | Research | Field identification, ecology and collection evidence |
| Military history | Research | Technology, logistics, geography and primary-source reconstruction |
“Research” means that no product claim is being made yet. New desks become public only when the source base, rights position and interaction model are strong enough to support a real publication.
Independence and attribution
CannedRocket is not affiliated with NASA, JPL, USGS, museums or other named data providers unless a publication explicitly states otherwise. Naming a source does not imply sponsorship or endorsement. Product pages describe their own data, reconstruction and operational boundaries.
